Professional Background

Although her forte is in classical repertoire, bassist Jennifer Quan has performed with Elton John, Glenn Close, Midori, Zubin Mehta, and the original Pink Panther saxophonist, Plas Johnson.  Her media credits include an appearance on NBC television with Marin Alsop teaching Katie Couric how to conduct Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.  As a bass soloist, Jennifer was featured at Avery Fisher Hall for the National Business Hall of Fame Awards.

Jennifer is a recipient of a University of Maryland Graduate Assistantship, Juilliard Community Service Fellowship, Leiber & Stoller / ASCAP Award, and the California Alliance for Arts Education Emerging Young Artist Award.

Jennifer’s teachers include Christopher Hanulik and Peter Rofé of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Curtis Burris of the National Philharmonic, Eugene Levinson of the New York Philharmonic, and Homer Mensch.  Her main piano teacher was Earle Voorhies, whose teacher was Alexander Siloti of the Old Juilliard School, whose teacher was Franz Liszt.  Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Juilliard and a Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland.
