Emily Praetorius (BM Composition, Clarinet '12)

Emily Praetorius is a composer and clarinetist from Ojai, CA. She holds a Master’s of Music in composition from Manhattan School of Music (2014) and a Bachelor’s of Music in clarinet performance and composition from the University of Redlands (2008). Her chamber orchestra piece “it is it isn't is it” will be premiered at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in August 2015 and her orchestra piece “I Am Now Going to Shut it” received an honorable mention from the American Composers Orchestra Underwood New Music Readings. Emily is co-founder of the Blank Space House Concert Series in NYC and a member of Adflata, a composer-performer collective dedicated to bringing new music to new audiences. Her past teachers include Susan Botti, Sam Pluta, Reiko Fueting, Anthony Suter, and Kathryn Nevin.

Skye Kooyman (BM Music Education, Percussion, '10)

Skye "Coach K" Kooyman ('10) is known as the Mentor to Teens who are Changing the World and author of the percussion methods book, "Vitamin K for Drummers Today." She is the founder and president of Teen Pulse, a rapidly-expanding organization committed to teaching social responsibility through the arts —coaching teens to become better percussionists and performers and to explore their own lives to leverage their youthful energy and make a positive impact on the world.
