Luke Hilland

Luke Hilland graduated with a BM in Performance from the University of Redlands in 2013. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Performance at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University with instructors Gail Williams, former Chicago Symphony Orchestra Associate Horn and Jonathan Boen, first horn with the Chicago Lyric Opera. Luke previously studied with Laura Brenes, Dr. Annie Bosler, and Brian Drake of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. At Redlands, Luke was a President's Honor Recital Soloist as well as a Concerto Competition Prize Winner. Luke also substituted regularly with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra.

At Redlands, Luke received numerous performance based and merit awards including the School of Music Performance Award, the Theodore Presser Scholarship, The Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Scholastic Award and Collegiate Honor Award, The Gwladys J. Pugh Endowed Scholarship, and was initiated as a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society. While at Redlands, the instruction Luke received from Laura Brenes allowed him to attend the Boston University Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, Massachusetts to study with Eric Ruske. In addition to Northwestern, Luke was accepted to the Boston University College of Fine Arts and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University for graduate studies. Luke found numerous performance opportunities in the School of Music and the Redlands community; something which is an invaluable part of a musician's development. Redlands was essential to his success as a musician.
