Garrett Karlin graduated from the University of Redlands in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Tuba Performance. While at Redlands, he was a student musician in the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and performed with almost every major ensemble. While in California, he maintained a private studio of fourteen low brass students, many of whom had played in prestigious honor groups such as the CBDA All-State Honor Bands and the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra. Garrett also taught at several Southern California high schools as a low brass coach.
Garrett is now attending the University of Colorado at Boulder on a full Teaching Assistantship where he assists with the tuba/euphonium studio in addition to a music appreciation class. He is currently busy auditioning for various professional ensembles and is trying to re-build his private studio now that he has moved to Colorado. Garrett has plans to pursue his Doctorate after the completion of his Masters Degree and hopes to one day play in a professional orchestra and be a full-time tuba and euphonium professor at the university level.
