About The School of Education

The faculty, staff, and students of the School of Education form an engaged, collaborative community of professionals, committed to transforming and positively impacting education, counseling, and related health and human services.

"Standing for academic excellence and educational justice” is the credo adopted by the School of Education. This credo compliments the School’s highly regarded practice of student-centered teaching and learning to guide each student towards becoming an excellent, compassionate, and reflective practitioner-leader.

The School’s programs prepare students to embrace learning as a central value in their lives and continuously acquire new knowledge and skills necessary for them to be effective educators throughout their careers. The School of Education develops innovative leaders and scholarly contributions -including conversations, research, professional development, and policy formation- that aim to enhance learning for all in increasingly complex educational contexts.  With our focus on highly personalized education in our graduate and professional programs we transform individuals into expert practitioners in k-12, higher education and human services that have an eye toward innovation and justice in education, health and the community.

The graduate and professional School of Education endeavors to transform students into innovative scholar-practitioners, guided by the ideals of equity and access, who serve their communities as leaders in k-12, higher education, and human services.  Through personalized, inclusive, globally-engaged teaching and scholarship, we aim to shape and enrich educational practices that advance a more just society and impact the lives of individuals in our community and beyond.

The faculty, staff, and students of the graduate and professional School of Education form a vibrant community of inquiry committed to experiential learning, diversity of ideas and people, and collaborative scholarship.  Through our transformative, high-quality teaching and scholarship, we prepare leaders and professionals who enhance the learning and livelihoods of all people in increasingly complex educational contexts.
