Leadership Opportunity in the International Business Initiatives

Lead a Trip to One of Our International Destinations!

  • Mainland China
  • Cambridge
  • New Zealand
  • Austria & Italy
  • India
  • Sweden, Denmark & Germany

The School of Business International Business Initiatives (IBI) offer leadership opportunities for students that participate in our study abroad courses. Each course will generally have two leadership positions: a main leader, who will also be responsible for PR and alumni relations, and a finance / logistics leader. The main leader is the main representative of the student body in class and in country. The main leader supports the logistics / finance leader and the faculty in their tasks, makes contacts with Redlands alumni and helps market the course to fellow students.. The finance / logistics leader helps design the venue and organize the trip, which will include everything from company visits to sight-seeing tours. Leaders will work with the instructor and make contacts with companies in country that they are interested in visiting.

Study abroad leaders thus help design their course and ensure that the course content is what students are interested in learning. They have exceptional opportunities to make contacts in foreign countries. Completed leadership assignments can be stated in a leader's c.v. Moreover, leaders who successfully complete their assignment receive a $ 1,000 -- tuition remission ($500 at the beginning of the trip and $500 upon return to the US). They also become members of LIBIC, our international leader's club, which allows them to network with past and present IBI leaders. Selected leaders will be asked to serve on a panel to advise the School of Business on future international business initiatives. Prospective leaders are selected competitively by mid-October or early November by the faculty who leads the trip.

Students interested in leading one of the trips this year, should contact the faculty who teaches the course or the international program director, Michael MacQueen at their earliest convenience with a letter of interest and a copy of your resume. Please indicate which position(s) and which study abroad course(s) you are applying for.
