Redlands Panel on Business and Society

Thursday, October 25th: Corporations, Campaign Finance and the 2012 Election
University of Redlands Main Campus, Casa Loma Room 6:00pm
(hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be available)

How will the 2012 election be different from previous election cycles? In one word, the answer is money. Observers maintain that since the landmark Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision by the U.S. Supreme Court the influence of independent expenditures and so-called "Super PACs” have fundamentally changed the way that elections are financed. Join the Banta Center for Business, Ethics and Society for a timely discussion examining the social and political impacts of corporate spending, political action committees and current campaign finance law on the 2012 election.

Panelists include

Greg Thorson
Ken and Lynn Hall Endowed Chair of Public Policy Professor, Department of Government University of Redlands

Renee Van Vechten
Associate Professor, Department of Government University of Redlands

Jeffery Smith (Moderator)
Director of the Banta Center for Business, Ethics and Society Associate Professor, School of Business University of Redlands
