Adjunct Faculty Profiles
Raymond W. Watts, CFRE, is Associate Vice President at the University of Redlands. Ray manages the Development team at the University, and oversees all University philanthropic outreach efforts, working closely with Trustees, the President and the Vice President for Advancement to achieve organizational goals. Before assuming the role of AVP at Redlands, Ray served for five years as Director of Development, overseeing the major gift fundraising for the historic Centennial Campaign in 2007.
Prior to coming to Redlands, Ray spent seven years at his alma mater, Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles, spending the last four years as Director of Annual and Special Campaigns.
Ray received a bachelor's degree in English literature from LMU and a master's degree in business administration from LMU with an emphasis in management. Ray received CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification in 1999 and has presented at multiple conferences around the nation on varying topics relating to fund development and non-profit leadership. Ray also serves as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Redlands School Of Business, teaching management and leadership theory as well as the senior capstone class.
Ray lives in Redlands, California with his wife, Judi and their three children.
Joseph Mignone, B.S. is a principal consultant with JFM Global Associates. He has more than 35 years of professional experience in project management, accounting, leadership, change management, organizational effectiveness, quality management systems, quality auditing, Six Sigma, performance measurements, lean enterprise methodology, ISO standards and business management. Joe’s work at Solar Turbines Inc. was instrumental in the organization receiving the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Award in 1998. Joe holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the City University of New York. He has completed graduate work at USIU in international relations and marketing and also holds several professional certifications
Grant L. Doster, M.B.A. has 25 years of line management experience, having led sales, marketing, distribution, strategic planning, and business development in the entertainment, advertising, consumer products and banking industries. He has held positions including general manager at Pepsi and Miller Brewing, vice president of global sales and marketing at Walt Disney, and senior vice president of client services for a prominent national advertising firm.
Grant holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Redlands and attended the Graduate School of Retail Banking at the University of Virginia. He has worked as an independent trainer, facilitator and motivational speaker since 2005.
Rodger Lehl, M.B.A. is a human resources analyst with the County of Riverside, an instructor at UC Riverside Extension, the chairman of the board of directors of Community Health Systems, Inc., and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He has a 25 year career in the private and public sectors as a teacher, trainer, recruiter, consultant, leader and HR professional. He is currently assigned to the County of Riverside’s Center for Government Excellence where he teaches courses in the Management and Supervisory Academies. His current work focuses on preparing and mentoring the County’s next generation of leaders.
Rodger holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Redlands.
Barry Newton, M.P.A. has over 30 years of human resources and consulting experience, including professional and management positions with General Dynamics Corporation, Hay Management Consultants, the California Institute of Technology and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He has also served as managing director of Creative Management Solutions, a human resources consulting firm specializing in organization design, total compensation and performance management systems. He has worked with over 200 clients in the private, not-for-profit and public sectors.
Barry also serves as the administrator of CalPACS, an online compensation and benefits database having over 120 local government members in Southern California. For 20 years he has been an instructor in compensation management, performance management and human resources management at the University of California, Irvine in business management and at the and University of California, Riverside .
Barry holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California. He is a certified compensation professional.
Deborah Van Huis, M.S., principal of Expertise On Demand, has over 20 years experience in the entitling and construction field, as well as general business project management expertise. She has served as vice president of forward planning, regional land development manager and in other leadership positions for businesses such as SunCal Companies, Centex Homes and KB Homes. She has also published articles on employee motivation and leadership.
Deborah holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in administrative leadership from Central Michigan University.
