Bachelor of Arts
1. Majors in introductory WGS courses describe the contributions and experiences of women across nations, cultures, class, race, sexualities and histories for written assignments and oral presentations.
2. WGS students demonstrate the ability to synthesize, integrate and evaluate complex ideas and analyze texts critically and coherently in written assignments.
3. WGS majors identify key concepts and issues in the interdisciplinary field of women’s and gender studies in an organized and coherent analytical essay based upon and sustained by evidence.
4. WGS majors apply a body of feminist theory in written work, visual media, activist projects or performance to explain how the construction of knowledge historically marginalizes women.
5. By the end of their third year in the program, WGS students identify and articulate how feminism's contested relationships of power relate to race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability and/or nationality in a well-structured research paper and in clear oral arguments.
6. Graduating WGS students apply key women’s and gender studies concepts to some form of public engagement which includes an activist project, community service, paper presentation or performance.
7. Graduating WGS majors demonstrate their ability to design and complete a research project that analyzes a specific women’s and gender studies topic, which includes a literature review and interpretation of original data collected from relevant sources.
