Sociology & Anthropology in the 2012-14 Catalog
The Major
Students in the department may concentrate their studies in either sociology or anthropology. When officially declaring a major, students choose their concentration. A total of 44 units is required in the major. No more than four of the major courses may be taken at other schools.
The Minor
Seven courses, each taken for 3 credits or more, are required for a minor in sociology and anthropology: SOAN 100, and either 102 or 104, plus five additional SOAN courses (two 200-level and three 300-400 level) selected in consultation with the departmental faculty. No more than three of these courses may be taken at other schools. Courses taken with departmental faculty through Johnston Center may be counted toward these requirements with the permission of that faculty member or the department chair.
