Redlands Student Investment Fund
The Redlands Student Investment Fund (RSIF) is a non-profit, student-run organization that manages stock investments and models a cooperative corporate structure for the educational benefit of its members and the student body.
The Fund manages a portfolio in the form of a $40,000 endowment from the university that currently consists of holdings in Apple, General Electric, JP Morgan, and Berkshire Hathaway among other companies. It's REAL money put into REAL investments with two purposes in mind: to educate students about the markets, and to make money for the support of university programs.
Standard meeting times for Fall 2012 are Tuesday evenings at 6PM in Duke 312, and normally include:
-- A News Segment
-- An Educational Segment
-- A Company Presentation
-- Some form of discussion on selective companies
Membership is open to all Redlands Students- both undergraduate and graduate. Past member majors have included Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Financial Economics, Mathematics, Creative Writing, Music Composition, as well as MBA and Johnston students.
To attain analyst status and be able to vote, students must meet attendance and presentation requirements.
