Advising

advisor and studnet

In addition to teaching and research, our professors devote considerable time to advising students. A central theme of advising is to assist students in completing all requirements, graduating on time and preparing for life after Redlands.

Each accounting major must meet with their advisor twice a year, but typically they meet much more frequently to discuss how best to achieve student goals.

Advisors help students attain internships, make study abroad decisions and attain career opportunities upon graduation. Generally advising sessions are by appointment, but our professors also encourage informal walk-ins.

When you decide your major, sometime during your sophomore year, you choose an advisor by mutual agreement and approval of the Program Chair, Dr. Laurie Mitchell (909-748-8500). Even before deciding a major, our professors are very willing to offer guidance and consultation. Potential accounting majors are encouraged to consult with Professor Mitchell as early as is convenient.
