2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign: Help us Serve Others

"During my time at Redlands, community service has been a special part of developing my student-athletes into good citizens. I've found that service has a way of benefitting the doer as well as those he or she serves"

- Mike Maynard, Head Football Coach

Community Service Learning has an impact on the lives of countless individuals and organizations – on campus and in the community.  It gives our students unique opportunities to make a difference in the world around them through mentoring and tutoring programs, and local, national and international outreach opportunities.

The annual Faculty & Staff Campaign focuses on raising awareness and support for the Office of Community Service Learning. Through gifts to the CSL Office, faculty and staff members not only support the U of R and its students, but also help make a difference in our local communities.  The impact of that support is far reaching – building houses and restoring gardens, providing resources for tutoring programs like Big Buddies, and giving more students the chance to experince life-changing service trips. During the 2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign, over 42% of the campus community contributed more than $23,000 to support students at the University of Redlands. Of that total, $8,500 was given to support programs run by the Office of Community Service Learning and more than 3,200 hours of service were pledged by members of the campus community.
