Description:

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the overall management and administration of all financial aid at the University, approximately $51 million dollars of financial aid from federal, state, and institutional source, including both internally- and externally-funded resources.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides general supervision and oversight of management, budget and planning for the Office of Financial Aid’s staff of six.
  • Develops financial aid policy and ensures compliance with federal, state, and University rules and regulations which govern financial aid in the form of grant, loan, and scholarships programs for undergraduate, credential, and graduate students.
  • Responsible for total tuition net revenue management, includes strategic management of the tuition discount rate.
  • Oversees the management of Financial Aid’s information and computer systems including   implementing the auto-packager module in the University’s Administrative System, Datatel.
  • Manages and/or participates in different management working groups for the College and the Schools.
  • Puts together prospective student financial aid packages and processes appeals.
  • Meets with and provides counsel to parents and students as needed.
  • Works closely with the Admission’s offices to assist in recruitment and retention.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of similar or related progressive managerial experience, preferably in financial aid for a private college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of federal financial aid regulations, and familiarity with state programs; knowledge of Datatel desired.  An understanding of how tuition discounting impacts financial strategy and overall enrollment management is essential.  Must be capable of using a more mathematical approach to financial aid decisions and strategy; have a strong orientation towards finance and budgets; and possess good mathematical and analytical skills and an understanding of statistics.  Must be a hands-on manager with excellent communications and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies and represent the department well; have outstanding leadership ability and will be expected to lead by example; a tem player with outstanding communication skills in writing, speaking, and listening.  In compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act, if selected for the interview process and accommodations are needed please call 909-748-8040.
