Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University Registrar provides vision, leadership, and management oversight for all major activities and supervision of a knowledgeable staff within the Office of the Registrar.  The University Registrar supports the University's academic mission by serving on appropriate curriculum and academic committees and working with other administrative offices serving the student population located on our main residential campus and regional campuses throughout Southern California.  The University Registrar works closely with the faculty to develop and implement academic policies, taking into consideration the individual needs of students.

  • Manages student registration, course scheduling, degree certification, transfer credit evaluation and articulation, Academic Review Board petitioning, Commencement, and production of the University Catalog.
  • Manages the retention, retrieval, and control of all academic records for all University of Redlands students.
  • Maintains and monitors the database for student records, curriculum management, registration, and faculty.
  • Ensures that the Office of the Registrar provides prompt, accurate service to students, alumni, faculty, administration, and external agencies.
  • Oversees continuous improvement and operational effectiveness for the Office of the Registrar.
  • Ensures the functionality of appropriate Datatel systems in support of collaboration and customer service.
  • Regularly reviews, develops, and improves department policies and procedures.
  • Manages metrics to measure staff skills, productivity, services, and unit compliance.
  • Interacts effectively with internal and external constituencies.
  • Collaborates with third party vendors.
  • Directs on-campus FERPA education efforts and compliance.
  • Produces research data and reports as requested.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

The successful candidate should have leadership, administrative, and technological skills as well as some familiarity with government and accrediting agency reports and regulations, and will bring to the office a creative and technologically advanced approach to the management and reporting of student registration and records.  We seek an energetic, creative, and collaborative professional who can sustain current and initiate new programs and services for university students and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree plus extensive experience in an office of records and registration or in some closely related area.  The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills; exceptional writing and speaking skills; strong ethical convictions; the ability to understand complex rules and regulations and the ability to apply them in varying circumstances; experience with management of an office and evaluation of employees; knowledge of transfer credit requirements; ability to manage complex administrative databases; and the ability to interact effectively with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.  Experience with student information systems and demonstrable skills in budget management are required.  A demonstrated ability to provide vision and leadership for the future is required.  The candidate must possess robust analytical and problem-solving skills, and a record of adaptability to changing environments, policies, and student needs.  Experience with academic enterprise resource planning and management systems, including knowledge of web-based registration, grade entry, and degree audits, is highly desirable.  Experience with financial aid, student accounts, and integrated student services is desirable.  In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if selected for the interview process and accommodations are needed, please call 909-748-8040.
